Tom in St Lucia

Sounds exotic doesn't it?
Tom travelled to St Lucia for a week right after Thanksgiving to teach the Advanced Life Saving in Obstretrics course with a team of eight other physicians in a small hospital. Yes, I stayed home with the kids and he actually complained about the weather! Ha, too hot and humid! They were not based in Castries, the tourist end of the island and the hospital was currently situated in an old soccer stadium while the new building was under construction. The team presented the course to 70 medical students, physicians and nurses. The course ran 3 days plus a day was devoted to planning...they did get to the beach but Tom said the local beach was quite dirty, with trash and needles on the beach. Not like the ones the tourists go to at the northern end of the island! They also got to experience the local general election which was less raucous than anticipated and tabulating the results was similar to counting chads in Florida..apparently the vote counters couldn't figure out who won and announced one candidate the winner, then the other...
