Goodwill Hunting

My mom and Jeremy loved Goodwill (Jeremy still does but he actually prefers Salvo--Salvation Army--now, says the prices are better). A regular Grandmary playmate always included Goodwill Hunting, dubbed so after that movie came out with Matt Damon. Jeremy was a bargain hunter and always came home with treasures.

Our Goodwill is conveniently located across the street from Target.

Goodwill Hunting a few weeks ago netted: a lovely 3' pre lit tree, still in a box, from Target, regularly $34.99, but only $6.97...also a box of new glass ornaments for $1.97 and two large rolls of wrapping paper for $0.97! And since we didn't' have any tree at all due to Tom's trip, it was nice for the kids to have a little tree to decorate. Yes, the lights still worked too!

I did a little more Goodwill Hunting today and it was a treasure trove for Christmas items. If I didn't long for the smell of real pine in my house (despite asthma and the breathing and nasal issues I always suffer in December), I would have picked up another bargain in the tree department--there were at least a dozen boxed large pre lit trees brought over from Target deeply discounted). I was hoping for a Christmas outfit for the girls, because despite being a seamstress and despite sewing lots of dresses and embroidering lots of tees for other people (like 35 year of the dragon tees for the upcoming Chinese New Year), I had nothing for my girls! Yes another case of the cobblers family not having shoes :) But how about this little number I picked up for $5?

And tonight we went out to get our real tree--first time in about ten years we didn't go cut one down at the tree farm--but, cheaper is good and Olivia was thrilled to make the final decision on the tree. Photos to come!
